The HAMR is a competitive running event consisting of a 5k and 10k course put on by Michigan Tech’s Department of Military Science .

This traverses Mont Ripley, in Hancock, Michigan, the beautiful heart of the Copper Country. The course is challenging, the competition is fierce, yet the environment remains fun and friendly.

This experience is truly unforgettable, as you enjoy the panoramic views of the famous UP fall colors, surrounded by friends, family, and competitors. Come out this year and take on the mountain together!

15% of all proceeds are donated to Copper Country Senior Meals, while the remaining proceeds support the development and training of your future Army officers.

Race Information

The HAMR is located on Michigan Tech’s own Mont Ripley. This is a rigorous, uneven course that traverses the steep slopes of the surrounding area’s most beloved mountain.

The HAMR course is carefully chosen to keep participants safe on the slopes, yet challenged. The course is clearly marked with tape, friendly workers, and water stations along the way to guide you!

15% of all our proceeds will be donated to Copper Country Senior Meals. This organization is the senior meal program for the Houghton and Keweenaw counties, sometimes referred to as Meals on Wheels. They provide meals to anyone in need over the age of 60 and also offer a meal delivery service to those who are housebound.
